He started up his career as a Principal Trumpet with Israel Philharmonic by selection of Maestro Subin Mehta in 1972 and followed by Utah Symphony and The Santa Fe Opera. He often appears as a guest principal trumpet with San Diego Symphony, Houston Symphony, Saint Louis Symphony and Indianapolis Symphony as well as has been appeared with Louisville Orchestra and Vancouver Symphony and other uncountable US leading orchestras. He has performed with numerous conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Maurice Abravanel, Daniel Barenboim, Leonard Bernstein, Joseph Silverstein, Sergiu Comissiona, Lukas Foss, James DePriest, Varujan Kojian, Rafael Kubelik, Eric Kunzel, Louis Lane, Lorin Maazel, Mstislav Rostopovitch, Leonard Slatkin, Michael Tilson Thomas and Hugh Wolff.
Other than those orchestral experiences that he has had. He often performs as a soloist. He has been a soloist with Israel Philharmonic, Utah Symphony, Bangkok Symphony and others solo recitals. He also often plays chamber music with numerous groups through out the world.
He had been a trumpet faculty and director of Brass choir at Rubin Academy of Music, University of Utah, University of New Hampshire and Asian Youth Orchestra. He also often has been invited to masterclass through the world leading colleges and universities such as Indiana University, Washington State University, University of Utah, Denver University, University of Idaho, Walla Walla College, Everett Community College, Sydney Conservatorium, Canberra University, Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts, MIFA International Academy of Music in Bangkok, Seoul University, Crans in Switzerland, The University of Taipei, Conservatorio de Musica del Estado de Mexico, Various primary and secondary schools in California, Indiana, Idaho, Maine, Utah and Washington.
As a trumpet player, he has made more than 30 recordings with Israel Philharmonic, Utah Symphony and Saint Louis Symphony. As a conductor, he has performed with Utah Symphony as a finalist in competition, Colorado Philharmonic as a chamber conductor, director of Brass Choir of Indiana University and Asian Youth Orchestra.
He graduated from Indiana University in 1972 and has studied trumpet with Herbert Mueller, Charles Gorham, Louis Davidson, Arnold Jacobs, Mas Woodbury, Thomas Stevens, James Stamp, Pierre Thibaud, Vincent Chochowicz and Sam Kraus.
Other than Classical performances, he also has Popular and Jazz performances with Doc Severinsen Band, Lead Trumpet with Salt Lake Jazz Big Band, Ella Fitzgerald, Henry Mancini, Danny Kaye, Roy Clarke and others.
Currently, he is a Professor of Music at Indiana University and the director of Brass Choir. From more than 200 candidates, in 1990, he has won the job to be an Associate Professor of Music at Indiana University and later in 1993 as a Professor of Music. |
